SOLD OUT - Composer Spotlight Series: Schubert

This event is SOLD OUT. You may register below to be added to the wait list.

Join the World Chess Hall of Fame as we present the music of Franz Schubert. Ranked among the greatest composers of the Classical and early Romantic eras, Schubert created a vast catalogue of vocal, symphonic, sacred, operatic, chamber and piano works. Tonight’s concert presents his beloved String Quintet in C major for two violins, viola and two cellos, dubbed the “Cello Quintet.” Completed shortly before his death at the young age of 31, the work combines sublime melodic lyricism and deep pathos. It stands as a testament to Schubert’s compositional genius and is a masterpiece of the chamber music genre.

This performance will feature members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra: Celeste Golden Boyer, violin; Erin Schreiber, violin; Shannon Farrell Williams, viola; Melissa Brooks, cello; and Bjorn Ranheim, cello.
